Life Goes On?

Sorry, I haven't been blogging. Whenever I want to blog, it's always around these times and I'm already bushed from the day's events. Okay, moving on.

There's a lot of things that have been going on this holiday season.

I borrowed a couple of DVDs from the library to keep my sisters occupied. So, one day at the library while picking DVDs, I came across a scriptwriting seminar organized by a Singapore Scriptwriting guild or something along those lines. The one thing they emphasized the key to the success of a script is to keep re-writing it. I mean they said other stuff, but I couldn't remember everything because I was busy trying to unlock some DVD covers for my sister.

Then I directed a short film (Best Memory AKA The Ice-Cream Rejection) with my friends based on a script I wrote. About a guy who is narrating his rejection story to his sister. I guess we wanted to pay a homage to Edgar Wright's works.

The structure of the short film came from the idea of recounting a story from memory to a friend. And when you narrate a story, you don't tell all the details. Instead, you leave them out, exaggerate them, add words and actions that didn't really happened because of how you interpret the events that happened.

The shoot went well, I suppose. It definitely took on a different set of wheels during filming and we went along on the ride, completing it. There are some bits in the script that I didn't use because of time and creativity constraint. Overall, I thought it was quite well done, if you leave out the acting and noisy background criticisms and. In retrospect, I'm quite pleased and proud of how it turned out.

Exporting it was a problem. We spent hours and hours exporting it but we couldn't get it done so we had no choice but to split it into 2 videos and below are the results of our 2-day shoot and 5-day editing process. Enjoy, people =D

Christmas was particularly boring this year. Besides the gifts from my wonderful loving cousins and the awesome steamboat they prepared for us, it was pretty mediocre. I got a box of towels, 2 boxes of chocolates (Royce and Ferraro Rocher). The best gift came from my sisters, who gave me a freaking huge poster of 500 Days of Summer from Popcorn Pop, the movie memorabilia shop. Sadly, I can't unroll it yet because I have to frame it up first. =(

All right, I have to go sleep soon. Thanks for listening and watching my short film. Enjoy the rest of your holidays, people!

Goodnight everyone! (standing on a lit stage in an empty theatre)

If you look back one year ago, aging isn't noticeable. Look back 10 years ago and you'll find yourself yearning for the little things, no matter how insignificant, that made you really happy.
